What a month it becomes when all the celebrations, new cool stuff and justified overindulgences have come to a halt….January!!
Well I have a new appreciation for the month.
Have you ever had too much of a good thing?? I certainly have! Now don’t get me wrong, by the end of a year I absolutely long for the random chaos that comes with Christmas. Of course the depth and tranquil beauty is there but it’s buried under the parties, gift exchanges, decorations and mall trawling!
So when January comes along, I am truly ready for…
Well we don’t have carved-in-stone routines but we do have a flow. It allows us to accomplish so much and I like few things better than that feeling of accomplishment, for myself but more for my family.
2) NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS.
I had a friend recently tell me she thought that New Years resolutions were a thing of the past and that she hadn’t thought about New Years resolutions since childhood. Well HEY….SHE’S MISSING OUT!! I’m sure this has an accumulative effect on my mental health because having a chance to start fresh with new goals is like the best thing ever!!
3) POND HOCKEY. Well, not all of us play the sport but all of us skate on a nice pond in the back yard. Every year it’s with the same exuberant anticipation as each morning, kids check to see if the pond is ready for skating. This carries us nicely through the month. And now February please!
In that moment of inspiration, I saw the apron as more than just a practical thing. It became a storyteller, sharing the warmth of family recipes, the joy of making music, and the rich cultural tapestry that has shaped my journey. The little details on the aprons? Well, they're like a nod to the beautiful patterns of Celtic traditions – a little piece of storytelling tradition you can wear.
